Terms of Use

Personal and lawful use

You may use Grocer to create, edit, import, scan, and share grocery lists for lawful personal, family, or household purposes. You may not use the app in a way that harms the service, abuses our backend, or violates applicable law.

Your content

You are responsible for the grocery lists, notes, photos, recipes, receipts, and other content you place into Grocer. Only import, store, scan, or share content that you have the right to use and that you are comfortable keeping in your Grocer account.

Sign in

You can use Grocer's basic list features without signing in. An account is required for cloud sync, shared lists, account-backed subscription access, and some Smart Scan features. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email, and you're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.

Cloud storage

Without signing in, basic lists are stored on your device. When you sign in, lists are stored in our backend (Supabase) for sync across your devices and collaborators. Cloud availability depends on network access and service uptime.

Smart Scan

Smart Scan (Find groceries) sends selected photos and recognized text through our Supabase processing service to Google Gemini after your permission. Depending on the scan, Gemini receives an image, recognized text, or both. Read text uses on-device text recognition. Review all results before saving.

Dictation and Smart Organize

Dictation uses on-device speech recognition and requires microphone and speech-recognition permission. Optional Smart Organize sends your current draft text, including edits, through our backend to Google Gemini after separate permission. Audio is not sent to Gemini. You can edit and save dictated text without AI processing.

Privacy and AI processing

Our Privacy Policy and AI & Photo Processing page explain what is sent, who processes it, retention, and your choices. Accepting these terms does not replace the app's separate AI permission prompts.

Collaborators

If you invite other people to a shared list, you are responsible for who you invite and the content you choose to share with them.

Grocer Pro

Grocer Pro is an optional subscription offering Smart Scan, Smart Organize, and the paid capabilities shown before purchase. The app displays the available billing periods, localized prices, and any usage limits. Smart Scan and Smart Organize share an AI usage allowance. Basic lists, on-device dictation on supported devices, and the available Read text path do not require Pro.

Free trial and renewal

Eligible subscriptions may include a 3-day free trial. Eligibility, trial duration, price, and billing period are shown in the app and confirmed by Apple before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation or when an eligible trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends; renewal may be charged within the final 24 hours. To avoid a trial renewal charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Billing and cancellation

Apple handles billing. Manage or cancel your subscription in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or through the app's subscription-management option. Deleting Grocer or your Grocer account does not cancel your subscription. Cancellation stops future renewals; access after cancellation is governed by Apple, and trial access may end immediately. Refunds and consumer rights

Request refunds through Apple's refund service. Eligibility is determined by Apple and applicable law. These terms do not limit any mandatory cancellation, refund, or other consumer rights.

Restore purchases

If you already purchased Grocer Pro, use Restore Purchases in the app to reconnect your App Store purchase to your Grocer account or device. Subscription availability can depend on App Store receipt validation, network access, and Apple service availability.

Do not misuse the app

• Do not abuse or disrupt Grocer or related services, or reverse engineer the app except where applicable law permits it.
• Do not use Grocer to store, transmit, or share unlawful, harmful, or infringing material.
• Do not use automated or abusive behavior that interferes with normal app operation.
• Do not attempt to bypass subscription gates, usage limits, rate limits, or App Store payment flows.

Feature limits

• Smart Scan, Smart Organize, dictation, and text-recognition results can be incomplete or wrong, including names and quantities. Review them before use.
• Cloud features may be unavailable during outages or when your device is offline.
• Paid AI access is subject to the usage allowance shown in the app, provider availability, rate limits, abuse prevention, and App Store subscription status. A subscription does not promise unlimited AI requests.
• If you do not agree to these terms, stop using Grocer.

No warranty

• Grocer is provided on an as-is and as-available basis.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or perfect import accuracy.
• You are responsible for keeping any backups you consider necessary.
• Grocer does not provide medical, allergy, nutrition, or food-safety advice. Check original product labels and authoritative sources for those decisions.

Liability limits

• To the maximum extent allowed by law, Grocer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
• This includes loss of data, sharing mistakes, service interruptions, or issues caused by third-party platform outages.
• Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will show the effective date on this page. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law. Changes do not remove rights you already have under consumer law.

These terms are effective as of September 7, 2026.
